In 2018, our program will be entering its 12th year leading outdoor adventures for Baltimore area students. Established in the fall of 2006, the program originated as a one-time trip offering to New Hampshire’s White Mountains for students at The Boys’ Latin School. The response was overwhelmingly strong and positive, and in the years since we have grown slowly and organically. With great support from Boys’ Latin and the local independent school community, in 2008 we established Mountain Element so that could begin to offer these memorable adventures to other students and schools. In 2010, Jay moved to Calvert School where he serves as the Director of Student Life, Carolyn has been the Upper School counselor at Roland Park Country School since 2011.

I. Build Leadership Through Adventure

-Responsibility (Personal, Group, Environment)
-Having Fun, Living in the Moment

II. Environmental Stewardship
-Practicing Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics

-Environmental Education

III. Promote Healthy Living
-Mountain Element also takes great pride in promoting healthy lifestyles to its students. We recognize the awesome opportunity presented to us as we introduce young people to the wonder and power of building a connection with the outdoors. We want to encourage them to embrace the physical and emotional potential of a lifestyle enhanced by outdoor recreation. We want our students to seek out challenges, and live a life full of adventure.

We are passionate about the outdoors and the wonder it holds for our students. Adventure is an ideal to be cherished and we hope our friends, families, and students can feel and recognize how this passion transcends through the Mountain Element program.

Thank you for your support,

Jay & Carolyn Parker
